The Grace Museum houses three unique facets inside the historic Hotel Grace—five art galleries featuring rotating exhibitions, a history gallery and a state-of-the-art children's museum. Built in 1909, the 55,000 square foot building is today the tenth largest general museum in Texas, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The first floor of The Grace Museum features an elegant restored marble ballroom, a glass loggia, a large enclosed brick courtyard, and a restored lobby, showcasing the building's original architectural details and colors. Weddings and special events are frequently held in portions of the museum's facilities.

The Grace Museum enriches and enhances the cultural life of Abilene and the region through its special exhibitions, permanent collection, classes and special events. In the heart of Abilene's beautifully restored downtown Cultural District, The Grace is a cultural hub for arts and education in West Texas.

The staff of The Grace Museum is not permitted to provide appraisals or evaluations of artwork because we are not licensed as professional art appraisers. It is not possible for staff members to answer requests submitted for opinions on privately owned works of art not included in the Museum collection. We recommend one of the following local professional art appraisers:

How can I get my artwork considered for exhibition at The Grace Museum?

A written exhibit proposal must be submitted along with:

- A detailed checklist of art with dimensions and values

- 10 high quality reproductions of the art work: slides, prints, or digital biography and curriculum vitae of the artist

- A list of previous exhibits and catalogues

- All work must be framed, ready to hang or display

Currently exhibitions have been scheduled for the next 2 years. Exhibits are planned 3 years in advance, with few exceptions.

Submissions should be mailed to Judy Deaton, Curator of Art & Exhibits, The Grace Museum, P.O. Box 33, Abilene, TX 79604.

Does The Grace Museum purchase works of art or accept donations of art or artifacts?

The collections policy of The Grace Museum is focused on specific works and is not a general repository. Works of historical value and artistic merit must be reviewed for consideration.
