Grace offers 'Day with Clay' workshop, lecture

 

Abilene, TX (January 9, 2007) - The Grace Museum is offering a special workshop and public lecture in February that coincide with its exhibit Contemporary Ceramics from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts.

Master ceramicist Linda Strickland will lead a day-long workshop February 10 for adults interested in learning more about ceramics. This introductory instruction includes materials for a hands-on experience with clay techniques, including the potter's wheel, as well as a boxed lunch.

The day begins at the Hardin-Simmons University Clay Studio at 10 a.m. where Strickland will demonstrate a variety of ceramic techniques. After a boxed lunch, participants will create their own ceramic artwork.

At 2 p.m. , workshop participants will move to The Grace for an in-depth guided tour of the exhibit. This lecture is open to the general public.

Cost for the workshop is $30 per person, and includes materials and a boxed lunch. The deadline to register is January 22. For reservations, call Patricia at 673-4587. Your check is your reservation.

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
