The Grace to open new exhibit of contemporary ceramics Dec. 2

Abilene , TX ( November 20, 2006 ) - The Grace Museum is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibit of contemporary ceramics beginning December 2.

Contemporary Ceramics from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts features 40 pieces from outstanding ceramic artists worldwide.

SAMFA has established a distinguished collection of contemporary American ceramics, many purchased from the National Ceramic Competitions held at the museum.

The Grace exhibit includes works by such noted artists as Gary Molitar, Tina Reuterberg, Susan Bridge, Yoshiro Ikeda, Barbara Frey and Thomas Kerrigan.

Complimenting the exhibit will be a full slate of educational programming, including the January Tot Spot program for children age 3 to 5 on January 4 and 5; pottery demonstrations during the January 11 Artwalk by George Holland; a special gallery talk by SAMFA Director Howard Taylor on January 25; pottery demonstrations by students of Angel Whiteside from Potters on Hickory during the February 8 Artwalk; and an adult ceramics workshop led by local artist Linda Strickland on February 10.

Contemporary Ceramics will be on display in The Grace's 2nd-floor Gallery C until February 17, 2007.

The exhibit is sponsored by Potters on Hickory, Rita and Eddie Krieger, and Kay and Phil Kendrick.

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
