Texas Singer-Songwriters artist to present Gallery Talk at
The Grace
Abilene,
TX (November 9, 2006 ) - The artist behind an exhibit
of Texas singer-songwriters presents a gallery talk at 6:30
p.m. Thursday at The Grace Museum.
Gary Goldberg, a
photographer and professor of art at Midwestern State University
in Wichita Falls , is the creative genius behind Texas
Singer-Songwriters, An Americana Portrait, a collection
of 50 color portraits of well-known Texans including Willie
Nelson, Pat Green, Kinky Friedman, Gary P. Nunn, Tommy Alverson,
and Mike McClure. Each portrait is accompanied by background
information about the singer-songwriter, and several have
audio components that allow the visitor to hear music composed
by the artist.
Goldberg will share
his inspiration for the exhibit and where it fits into the
culture of Texas music during the gallery talk. Coffee will
be provided courtesy of Starbucks.
"In this exhibition,
I tried to document the singer-songwriter movement of Americana
Music here in Texas," said Goldberg. "I like music,
I like Texas music, and I hope this exhibition moves people
to explore Texas' unique brand of Americana music."
Texas Singer-Songwriters,
An Americana Portrait opened November 4 in The Grace's
Gallery A and B on the second floor, and will be on display
through February 17, 2007 .
The Grace Museum
is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and
from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday
evening after 5 p.m.
