Grace
welcomes new staff member
Abilene, TX
(April 8, 2008) - The Grace Museum is pleased to
announce the addition of Jana Bailey to their staff. Bailey
will assume the position of Museum Educator effective April
16.
Bailey, who has
held two other positions with The Grace - Tot Spot teacher,
and Grace Academy teacher - was selected after an extensive
search process.
"We had several
great applicants, and are pleased that Jana agreed to accept
the position," said Pam Harman, Director of Education
for The Grace.
Bailey holds a Bachelor
of Science degree in Education from Abilene Christian University,
and brings a wealth of education experience to her new position,
including more than 13 years of teaching at the elementary,
middle and high school levels.
In her position as
Museum Educator, Bailey will be responsible for the coordination
and implementation of many of The Grace's education programs,
including ArtWalk Make and Take It, Grace Academy, Holiday
Camp, Saturday youth workshops, Youth Art Month, DreamNight
at The Grace, the AISD Title I programs, and The Grace's Summer
Art Outreach program.
"Jana will be
a great addition to the staff," said Grace Executive
Director Dennis Kois. "Her experience in education, coupled
with her years of service to the Museum, make her the right
choice, and we're thrilled to welcome her to the staff."
The Grace Museum
is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and
from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday
evening after 5 p.m.

Grace Museum's exhibitions and educational programs are supported
in part by grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the
Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, the City of Abilene, Taylor
County, and the Downtown Revitalization Program of the Tax
Increment Finance District. The Grace Museum is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1909, The
Hotel Grace served as a rest stop for railway travelers. The
mission-style building was renovated and re-opened in 1992
as The Grace Cultural Center. The Grace Museum , a non-profit
organization, now serves as a home to a Children's Museum,
History Museum , and Art Museum. At 55,000 sq. ft., The Grace
Museum is the 10th largest general museum in Texas . The Grace
Museum is the cornerstone of cultural arts and education in
West Texas .
