Thomason artwork on exhibit at The Grace July 22

Abilene, TX (July 11, 2006)  The work of a former Texas Artist of the Year will be on exhibit at The Grace Museum beginning Saturday, July 22.

The Artist's Eye: Paintings by Ronald Thomason, will feature the work of the Harper, Texas resident who received the state's top honor for an artist in 1973-1974.

"The Grace Museum is proud to feature the work of Ronald Thomason in this wonderful exhibit by a former Texas Artist of the Year," said Judy Godfrey, President/CEO of The Grace. "Over the years, Ronald has spent time developing friendships in Abilene, Albany, Eastland, Fort Worth, and Snyder, and his work has been relevant in the lives of many West Texans. As you explore his work through 'The Artist’s Eye,' we hope that you, too, will see this special connection to Texas landscapes, working cowboys, and historic structures."

In addition to being a studio and design artist, Thomason is a book and technical illustrator, lithographer and art teacher. Many of his paintings are in drybrush watercolor or egg tempera and show Texas landscape subjects such as windmills, wide-open cultivated fields, country homes, snowscenes, trees in landscape, and working cowboys.

Architectural subjects are also popular with Thomason, who has a special interest in historic structures, especially large Victorian mansions.

The Artist's Eye will be on exhibit in The Grace's 2nd Floor Gallery B through October 21.

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
