The Grace Museum receives top Texas Association of Museums award

Abilene, TX (April 12, 2006)  The Texas Association of Museums recognized The Grace Museum and its Marketing/PR director with the 2005 Mitchell A. Wilder Award for excellence in publication and media design.

The Grace Museum was honored with a Gold Citation – the top award -- for Dan Carpenter's design work on an invitation announcing the opening of "Hats: Hallelujah! Tradition, Faith and Fashion Mingle at Church."

"It's great to be honored for your work," said Carpenter, "and the Hats: Hallelujah! invitation was a lot of fun to design. Randy Johnson and his staff at Quality Printing also deserve a lot of credit for the finished product … it was a challenging, die-cut piece to produce."

Named in honor of Wilder, founder of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth , and an advocate of excellence in museum publication, the competition was organized by TAM to recognize achievement in graphic design and media production and to encourage quality in public presentations. The Wilder Design Competition drew 217 entries from museums of all sizes, regions, and disciplines throughout the state of Texas .

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
