Grace receives top Texas museum association design awards

Abilene, TX (March 31, 2008) - The Grace Museum received three awards recognizing excellence in publication and media design from the Texas Association of Museums at their annual convention March 28.

Dan Carpenter, The Grace's Marketing/PR/IT director, and two contracted designers, received their recognition as part of the 29th Annual Mitchell A. Wilder Publication Design Awards Competition.

Carpenter received a Gold Citation - the top award - for his design work on the Museum's newsletter, arti FACTS. Sheila Kitts Design received a Merit Citation for her work on The Grace's Family Programs brochure, and Public Address Design of Houston received a Merit Citation for their design work on an invitation announcing the show David Bates: Paintings from Texas Collections .

Named in honor of Wilder, founding director of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, and an advocate of excellence in museum publication, the competition was organized by TAM to recognize achievement in graphic design and media production and to encourage quality in public presentations. The Wilder Design Competition drew 276 entries from museums of all sizes, regions, and disciplines throughout the state of Texas.

The Grace Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday. Admission is free Thursday evening after 5 p.m.
