DISTANCE

LEARNING

The Grace Museum is pleased to offer six (6) Distance Learning virtual field trips to schools across the nation and throughout the world!

Distance Learning at The Grace Museum involves launching a real-time, interactive experience for teachers and students of all ages. The programs are TEKS and TAKS aligned, and are based on national teaching standards as well.

The following programs will be offered to audiences nationwide:

Applying Reading TEKS for 3rd Grade

Through the adventures of two special characters, students will have the opportunity to interact with activities that address TEKS 3.7, 3.9, 3.10 and 3.11.

Applying Reading TEKS for 5th Grade

Paris, France is the scene for the characters in our story. TEKS 5.9, 5.10, 5.11 and 5.12 will be addressed by this interactive program.

Cultural Heritage Through Art (Grades 4-8)

This program highlights art works from The Grace's Permanent Collection. The program introduces students to various artistic forms, such as photography, sculpture and watercolor, and teaches students about a variety of different cultures: Hispanic, African-American, Native American, and Western. The focus includes art, social studies, and language arts. The following TEKS objectives are covered: Art 4.1 through 4.4; Social Studies 4.2, 4.17 and 4.23.

Journey to the Past (Grades 3-7)

Students take a journey back in time between the years 1900 and 1950. They will learn about these time periods by virtually visiting rooms of the period, learning about artifacts and seeing society change before their own eyes! The focus of this program is social studies. The following TEKS objectives are covered: Social Studies 4.5, 4.9, 4.13 and 4.23.

Art Teacher for the Day (Grades 4-8)

Students will be introduced to a specific art technique through hands-on art activities and examples from The Grace Museum's Permanent Collection. Various art techniques will be rotated in and out during the school year, so check the schedule for availability. The focus of study for this program is art.

Appreciating Art (All-levels, K-12)

This program is an introduction to the art museum experience that will provide students the opportunity to learn about different types of art styles and techniques as we take the students through the galleries of The Grace Museum. Different exhibits will be presented based on availability.

We encourage all participants to schedule a post-museum tour to top off their distance learning experience.

Cost: $75 (for non-Region 14 schools; free for Region 14)
