Volunteer Spotlight
A conversation with Carol Parker

Meet Carol Parker, an amazing and dedicated Los Aficionados (LA) volunteer for almost twenty-five years and a member of the LA Board for the last ten.

Carol, a graduate of Texas Christian University, retired from teaching after 29 years. In her words, she taught every grade from 1st to 12th and every subject you can imagine. While still living in Coleman, Carol would catch a ride to Abilene from her husband, Ray, and spend the day helping out at the museum. She attended the very first volunteer training in 1992 which took place in the basement of the newly opened Museums of Abilene, now known as The Grace Museum.

Carol’s love of children and art brought her to the museum. She has volunteered in every area of the museum, and her many experiences have led to an appreciation of what goes on behind the scenes. As Carol mentioned with a chuckle, "Someday I'll tell what happened at the snake exhibition!"

Carol has met most of her close friends through LA, and she feels fortunate to live in a small town with such a multitude of cultural activities. We are very fortunate that Carol Parker chose to share her time and talents with The Grace Museum.

From all of us at The Grace, thank you for your many years of commitment and friendship.
